Huawei has announced that its EMUI 9 update has begun rolling out to some of its older flagships. These devices include the Mate 9 series (Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro, and Mate 9 Porsche Design) which all originally launched with EMUI 5.0 based on Android Nougat.

The Mate 9 series was announced back in 2016 and came with Nougat pre-installed. They later got updated to EMUI 8.0 based on Android Oreo in 2017 and now they are getting upgraded to Android Pie.

The EMUI 9.0 update is also rolling out to the Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus which also launched with Android Nougat. The Honor V9, Honor 9, and Nova 2s also join the pie party.

If you own any of these devices, all you have to do is go to the Huawei Services app, select service, and then upgrade.

Huawei is rolling out a new EMUI 9.0.1 update to Huawei P10 and Honor 9 in China. There are many new enhancements and optimisations bundled with the latest update. It has added the support for VoLTE on China Telecom network in both the devices. Many users have started reporting about the update rolling out on Honor 9 and Huawei P10.

As far as the changelog is concerned, it talks about some fixes and newly added features. EMUI 9.0.1  update has added full-screen navigation gestures on Honor 9 to extend your full-screen experience. Even though, Honor has fixed an issue of black screen while displaying special scenes. Moreover, Huawei has added Google’s January 2019 security patch to enhance the security of both the devices.

Additionally, Huawei P10 was launched in February 2017 and is powered by Kirin 960 processor. It is coupled with 4/64GB and 4/128GB storage versions. Huawei P10 comes with a 5.1-inch 1080p resolution display. In the camera department, there’s a dual 20MP+12MP shooter on the rear side along with Leica lenses. Whereas, Honor 9 runs on Kirin 659 processor and is coupled with 4/6GB RAM. It packs 64/128 GB internal storage and carries a 12M+20M rear camera and 13M front camera.

Huawei has now officially confirmed that the name of the 14 Huawei smartphones that will be receiving the GPU Turbo technology update. The company has also revealed on the approximate time period on when these devices will be receiving the GPU Turbo update.

In August, Huawei will be bringing the GPU Turbo technology update to users of Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mate RS, P20 and P20 Pro. Owners of these smartphones from markets like Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa will be able to take advantage of the update.

In September, the GPU Turbo update will be coming to users of Mate 10 Lite, Nova 2i, P Smart and Y9 2018 in all markets. Owners of P20 Lite in regions like Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa will be also receiving the update in the same month.

In November, the Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro, P10 and P10 Plus will be updated with GPU Turbo. The update will made available to users of these smartphones in all regions.

GPU Turbo technology was unveiled on the day when Huawei had announced Honor Play and Honor 9i smartphones in June. It is a hardware-software technology for accelerating the performance of the GPU of a smartphone. Huawei claims that the GPU Turbo technology can enhance the performance of GPU by 60 percent and at the same time it reduces its power consumption by 30 percent. It can also improve the performance AR, VR and EMUI user experience. A recent report has revealed that the Huawei MediaPad M5 is the first tablet from the company to receive GPU Turbo technology. The tablet is expected to receive the vital update in this month.

The above list does not include Honor phones. However, a recent report had revealed that some of the Honor branded smartphones will be also updated with GPU Turbo. Honor 10, Honor 9 Lite, Honor V10 and Honor 7X users located in Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, India and Middle East will be treated with GPU Turbo update.

Also, Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9 owners in all the regions will be receiving the update in November.

The GPU Turbo technology is already available on Honor Play and Honor 9i smartphones. Its beta version is now available to smartphones like Huawei P20, P20 Pro and Honor 10.

Huawei had launched the Honor 9 smartphone in June last year. A couple of leaked shots of the Honor 10 smartphone have surfaced recently which indicates that the arrival Honor 9’s successor could be close at hand. The new photos show that the Honor 10, the first flagship smartphone from the company will be arriving with a notched design.

In order to avoid negative reactions from audience, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has officially confirmed that OnePlus 6 would be arriving with a notched display. He added that the presence of notch on the OnePlus 6 will provide its users with a very large screen space. The upcoming Xiaomi Mi 7 and the rumored Mi 7 Plus smartphones are also expected to arrive with notched display. These reports suggest that many smartphone manufacturers are gearing up to launch notch enabled phones.

Huawei has already launched notch enabled Huawei Nova 3e (P20 Lite), P20 and P20 Pro smartphones and the leaked photos of the Honor 10 suggests that it will be also arriving with a similar design.

Even though the alleged Honor 10 is covered in a box in the leaked photos, it is clearly visible that it features a notch at the top. Below the display, there is a button that could be integrated with a fingerprint scanner. The rear view of the phone reveals that the top-left corner features a dual camera setup. Like the predecessor phone, the Honor 10 may feature a glass and metal combination chassis.

Recent leaks have claimed that the Honor 10 could be fueled by the Kirin 970 chipset. Like the Honor 9, it may arrive in variants like 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage + 6 GB RAM. As of this writing, there is no information available on the other specs of the phone.

Honor 9 and V9 (V9 is the Chinese name for the Honor 8 Pro) were among the last Huawei devices featuring a standard 16:9 display. One of the main disadvantages of the latest full-screen Honor devices was the absence of the fingerprint reader on the front. The company had to place it on the back since there is no space on the front panel due to the bezel-less displays.

So, in order to make authentication more comfortable, the company has decided to bring Face Unlock on several of its devices. And soon even Honor 9 and V9 will get this feature. The confirmation has just arrived from Honor President Zhao Ming who announced that both these handsets will receive Face Unlock through a post on the microblogging platform Weibo.

The date on which the Face Unlock update will be rolled out has not been unveiled, but from the words of the President, we can understand that it should happen very soon. The software-based Face Unlock which will arrive on the Honor 9, V9 is not as safe as the Face ID found on the Apple iPhone X which relies on a hardware sensor. But it is still a fast and very comfortable method to unlock our handsets.

Honor France has revealed through a Twitter post that Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro are getting the final update to EMUI 8.0, the latest version of the company’s user interface based on Android 8.0 Oreo. The update started rolling out yesterday (February 7) on the two high-end devices. The French division of Huawei’s sub-brand has also revealed the time frame in which two other handsets will get the update. We are referring to the older Honor 8 and the new midrange Honor 7X. In January Honor India declared that Honor 8 wouldn’t be getting EMUI 8.0 or Android Oreo because of software and hardware limitations, but it seems that they were wrong.

According to Honor France, the device will be updated to EMUI 8.0 in Q2 2018 (the period which goes from April to June), and the same will happen with the Honor 7X. At this point, we do not know who to believe about the Honor 8. The update is actually bringing important improvements to Honor 9 and 8 Pro. They include a better system stability and an optimized battery life, besides a visual refresh of the user interface. Further, new artificial intelligence features have been added.

They are similar to the ones provided by Kirin 970 and its Neural Processing Unit, even though the SoCs inside these phones do not have a dedicated module for AI. Automatic photo scene detection, instant translation, and automatic UI optimization have been added. Besides these exclusive features, there will obviously be the most important stock features included into Android Oreo. Among these, the Honor 9 and 8 Pro will get the picture-in-picture mode which will allow you to reduce app as small floating windows on the display, and you will be able to check them while doing other tasks.

Huawei’s Honor has begun rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo to two of its devices – the Honor 8 Pro (Honor V9) and the Honor 9. The update comes bundled with Huawei’s EMUI 8.0 update but there is a catch.

If you are not a resident of the UK, you likely won’t get the update. However, one user from India has reported updating his Honor 8 Pro. Honor has not revealed when other regions will get the update but they most definitely will receive it soon.

The update started rolling out to the Honor 8 Pro first while the Honor 9 is scheduled to get it later. It brings all the goodness of Android 8.0 such as picture-in-picture mode, auto-fill, notification dots, and new emojis.

You also get EMUI 8.0 features like AI Intelligent Engine which allocates resources to your most used apps and handles low memory management for a smooth experience; dynamic wallpaper; and LinkedIn built-in. The update is about 2.8GB in size.

Chinese smartphone giant Huawei yesterday took the wrap off the Honor 9 Lite, a trimmed down version of the flagship Honor 9. The Honor 9 Lite hands-on photos are here presented to you so you can have a close view and clearer look at the device.

The Honor 9 Lite is a mid-range model and it joins the growing number of flagship-looking mid-range models utilising the full-screen design. The major highlight of the smartphone s the full-screen design as well as the four cameras it packs. The 9 Lite has dual cameras at the front and rear and equally features a metal body encased in 2.5D curved glass at the front and rear sides. Apart from the Black color (Magic Nightfall) on display here, you also get colour options like Navy Blue, Seagull Gray, and Pearl White.

Overall, the Honor 9 Lite features a 5.65-inch IPS LCD screen with a Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It should be noted that the Honor 9Lite has a larger display than the flagship 9. Sitting in the driver’s seat is a Hisilicon Kirin 659 chipset that includes a 2.36 GHz octa-core processor. It is complemented by a 3GB RAM on some models and 4GB RAM on other models while the storage options include a 32GB and 64GB storage versions, both expandable. Crammed inside the slim metal body is a 3,000mAh battery that is equipped with an intelligent power saving feature.

Other features include EMUI 8 based on Android 8, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 4.2, USB Type-C, and GPS. The phone also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Honor 9 Lite starts at 1,199 Yuan (~$182) for the base variant with 3GB + 32GB memory. The price goes up to 1,499 Yuan (~$227) for the 4GB + 32Gb version and 1,799 Yuan (~$227) for the 4GB + 64GB version. The device will go on sale from December 26 in China and Huawei has hinted that the model will be available in 14 countries including India, Russia and the U.K in no distant time.

On Thursday, Honor will be unveiling the Honor 9 Lite smartphone with full screen design. The specs and the pricing of the phone have been already leaked earlier in this month. Recent reports have revealed that the two models of the Honor 9 Lite would be costing 1,299 Yuan (~$196) and 1599 Yuan (~$242). However, the pricing of the two variants of the smartphone that have been found listed on China Telecom’s website are different from the previous leaks.

The Honor 9 Lite is a toned down version of the Honor 9 phone that was unveiled earlier in this year. It is expected to feature glass on its front and rear sides. However, instead of a metallic frame, it is now rumored to arrive with a plastic border. New leaks claim that it would be arriving in color choices like blue and gray. However, previous leaks have also suggested that it would be available in other color options like black and white.

The Honor 9 Lite will be housing a 5.65-inch display that will be supporting 18:9 aspect ratio. It is expected to support Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The front and rear sides of the phone will be featuring dual camera setup that will include a 13-megapixel sensor and a 20-megapixel sensor. The handset will not be supporting NFC and 4G+. It will be fueled by Kirin 659 chipset.

According to the listing of the Honor 9 Youth Edition on China Telecom, it will be arriving in two models such as 32 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM. These models are respectively priced at 1,999 Yuan (~$302) and 2,399 Yuan (~$363). Interestingly, there is no mentioning of the 3 GB RAM variant that the rumor mill had revealed earlier.

Since the base model of the Honor 9 was priced at 2,299 Yuan, it is speculated that the two variants of the Honor 9 Lite would be respectively priced at 1,799 Yuan (~$272) and 2,199 Yuan (~$332).

Huawei has confirmed that it will be unveiling a new device on Dec. 13. Fresh information suggests that the company may unveil the alleged Honor 9 Lite phone on Tuesday. The Honor 9 was launched in June this year with premium design and Kirin 960 chipset. The rumored Honor 9 Lite is expected to arrive with mid-range specs and full screen design. It has been found that the LLD-AL10, LLD-AL00 and LLD-TL10 mode numbers that were approved by TENAA in the previous month may belong to the upcoming Honor 9 Lite.

The TENAA listings of the aforementioned phones do not contain reveal their specs. However, it can be understood that the LLD-TL10 model is a China Mobile variant for the home country. These models can be seen sporting colors like black, gray and blue. Like the Honor 9, the Lite model seems to be sporting glass rear.

As far as the screen size is concerned, it is likely to house a 5.65-inch display that may carry support for Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixel

The Kirin 659 SoC may power the 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants model of the alleged Honor 9 Lite. These two models are speculated to respectively feature 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM. The handset is expected to be fueled by 3,000mAh battery. The 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM edition is likely to cost 1,299 Yuan (~$196) and the higher model featuring 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM may cost 1,599 Yuan (~241). Apart from the Honor 9 Lite, Huawei Enjoy 7S is also expected to get unveiled before the end of 2017.

Huawei‘s Custom ROM EMUI 8 will soon be available for users of the Honor 9 and Honor V9 smartphones. This was made known via the official EMUI Weibo page where it was disclosed that the duo would get the upgrade through the early adopter program. This means users who want to be among the first to use the new EMUI 8 which is based on Android Oreo would need to apply to be part of the programme.

The program can be entered through the Member Service app and Huawei also disclosed that there are limited slots available meaning that admission into the early adopter program would be based on first come, first served. All users of the Honor V9 and Honor 9 need do is to access the Membership Service app and request for an upgrade and EMUI 8.0 version B323 would be pushed to their smartphones. It seems, though, that the features would be limited. The compatible Honor 9 models include the Honor 9 full Network standard version with 4GB + 64GB (STF-AL00) as well as the Honor 9 full Netcom version 6GB + 64GB (STF-AL10). Others include the Honor 9 Netcom Enjoy Edition 6GB + 128GB (STF-AL10), the China Mobile 4G  version with 6GB + 64GB (STF-TL10), and the China Mobile 4G version with 6GB + 128GB (STF-TL10). The Honor V9 versions include to just the full Netcom 6GB + 128GB model (DUK-AL20) and the lower full Netcom 6GB + 64GB version (DUK-AL20) and 4GB + 64GB full Netcom version.

The Honor 9 and Honor V9 were both released earlier this year, June and February 2017 respectively. Both models now add to the tally of Huawei smartphones that would soon get Android Oreo-based EMUI 8 upgrade. First, Huawei commenced the EMUI 8 Beta program for the P10 and P10 Plus and later the Mate 9 was spotted on Geekbench running Android Oreo. When an Honor 9 fan enquired on the arrival of the phone in India, the “Honor Smartphone” Twitter account revealed Oct. 5 as its launch date. The Honor 9 launch event for India will be held at Taj Exotica in Goa starting at 11 AM.

The Honor 9 was unveiled in China in June and then it was also made available in European countries. The launch of Honor 9 in India has come as a surprise as Huawei was expected to debut Huawei P10 flagship in the country.

The Honor 9 has a glass rear panel and comes in multiple color choices like Glacier Grey, Sapphire Blue, Midnight Black, Gold, Blue Bird, and Robin Egg Blue. However, there is no confirmation on whether the company would be selling all the color variants of the phone in India. Moreover, the appearance of the Honor 9 is very similar to Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship phone.

The smartphone features a 5.15-inch display that produces FHD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. It is driven by Kirin 960 chipset. It comes in 4 GB and 6 GB RAM variants and storage models like 64 GB and 128 GB. It includes a 3,200mAh battery.

The Honor 8 Pro was launched with a price tag of Rs. 29,999 in India. Hence, the Honor 9 is speculated to launch with of Rs. 35,000 in the country. It will be rivaling against smartphones like Nokia 8 and OnePlus 5.

Honor has confirmed that it will be holding another launch event in this month. It will be holding a launch event for Honor 7X on Oct. 11 in China. The entire specifications of the smartphone have been already revealed.

Huawei’s Honor brand took the center stage at IFA 2017 to unveil the Robin Egg Blue Limited Edition of the Honor 9 for the European market. The Honor 9 Robin Egg Blue variant was first unveiled in China about three weeks back and it is interesting to note that this isn’t going to be a China exclusive variant. 

The new Honor 9 color variant comes with the same design and specifications with the other color variants and it joins other color options like Glacier Gray, Sapphire Blue, Gold and Midnight Black which fans can choose from. The Robin Egg Blue Honor 9 is a limited edition and the device is already on presale in China since August 16. The new edition will hit the UK in mid-September and will sell for £459.99 in the UK. This price will likely be applicable across Europe but Honor did not disclose when it will ship to other European countries.

The Honor 9 was released in China first in June before an international release in July. The dual camera smartphone is the successor to last year’s popular Honor 8. During the launch it was announced that the device will be available in Sea Blue, Amber Gold, Black, and Seagull Gray.

A few days ago leaked images showed the Honor 9 in three new colors: orange, yellow and dark pink. Yesterday, Honor officially added a new color variant and to our surprise it isn’t one of those that leaked earlier.

The new color variant is Robin-Egg Blue or Eggshell Blue. It doesn’t matter what you call it, it is an attractive color and not one we’ve seen on any device to the best of our knowledge. The color wraps around the body save for the front which is white.

The Robin-Egg Blue Honor 9 packs the same specs as the other color variants but is limited to the 6GB RAM + 64GB model. It will be available on VMALL.com, Suning, JD.com, TMALL and Gome for ¥2699 (~$405) on August 16.

That is if the leaked photos of the Honor flagship in different colour options which have appeared severally on Weibo are real. The Honor 9 was launched about a month ago and was officially available in four colour variants –  Sea Blue, Amber Gold, Black and Seagull Gray colour, with the Black variant only becoming available a couple of weeks back.

The Honor 9 proved to be a popular smartphone and reportedly sold more than one million units in just 28 days globally. which is a record for the Honor brand. Huawei is perhaps trying to consolidate on the strong outing the device is enjoying in the market with the addition of three more variants. The colours are likely shades of green, orange and pink and obviously, they are targeted at the female folks who are more attracted to bright colours.

The Huawei Honor 9 is available in two storage models such as 4 GB of RAM + 64 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM + 64 GB of storage. Fresh information suggest that the Europe will get the premium edition of Honor 9 with higher storage. The pricing of the new variant has also surfaced.

According to WinFuture, the high-end version of the Honor 9 will be featuring 6 GB of RAM and it will have a native storage of 128 GB. This model is known as Honor 9 Premium. Usually smartphones with higher RAM are launched in China and some Asian nations. However, it seems that Honor wants to release Honor 9 with 6 GB of RAM in other regions.

The Honor 9 Premium has already landed in Italy. It has been made available through carriers like Tre and 3. The Honor 9 Premium pre-orders have started in the Switzerland. However, the flagship will be available for shipping from Aug. 28. It is not known when will the other European regions will be receiving the Honor 9 Premium.

Compared to the standard edition of the Honor 9 that features 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM, the premium variant is expected to come with an additional cost €50 which means that it will be selling with an outright cost of about €450.

There is no information on the color variants that will be made available for Honor 9 Premium. The standard edition comes in color options such as Black, Gold and Silver or Grey. The Honor 9 is receiving overwhelming response as Honor has reported that it has sold more than 1 million in the first month of making it available for pre-orders. Hence, the Honor 9 Premium is also expected to receive positive response.

Apart from the 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, the Honor 9 Premium features a 5.2-inch full HD display and is fueled by the home-brewed Kirin 960 chipset. The Android 7.1 Nougat OS comes with EMUI v5.1 skin from Huawei. Its dual camera setup includes a 20-megapixel sensor and 12-megapixel sensor. Its front-facing camera is of 8-megapixel. It features a 3,200mAh battery.

Huawei’s Honor brand is proving to be a very lucrative cash cow for the company. It has been from one success story to the other for the Honor brand and the Honor 9 which was launched about a month ago has joined the winning party. Honor’s President of its Business unit has revealed via a Weibo video post that the company has been able to sell up to 1 million units of the flagship model in less than a month.

According to the Weibo post, the Honor 9 shipment surpassed 1 million units in just 28 days. The Honor president also disclosed in his post that the number of patronages was far beyond their expectations, thus leading to regular shortages of the model. He also disclosed that they would increase productivity while sticking to the high quality the brand is known for. This figure is only for the Honor 9 shipment in China and does not include the sales in Europe which is also ongoing.

The Honor 9 was released in Europe on Tuesday in Berlin. Tagged the lightcatcher, the new Honor flagship brings not only premium specs but also an exclusive Assassin’s Creed game.

A user posted a picture of himself playing an Assassin’s Creed game. From the picture you may think it is the Assassin’s Creed mobile game of old. However, a tweet by Honor France confirms that the Honor 9 does come with the Assassin’s Creed Unity mobile game. The tweet also mentions that the game will be exclusive to the Honor 9 for 6 months!

Assassin’s Creed Unity was released back in 2014 by Ubisoft for Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but never for mobile. It is good to see it make its way to mobile phones albeit as an exclusive to the Honor 9 for now.

There is no mention of when it will be available for other android phones and iOS but chances are it will be next year.

Games exclusivity isn’t new. Early this month, iOS devices got a sequel to 2014’s popular puzzler, Monument Valley. Ustwo says it will be available for Android soon and that is very vague.

Huawei Honor 8 turned out to be a successful upper mid-range smartphone for the brand and it was important for its next generation model, the Honor 9 to continue its success. Considering this, the new model has retained the basic design and features of the Honor 8 and added a few extra elements to make it a bit special.

For example, in the design department, the Honor 9 comes with a 3D curved back made out of glass. The frame is made out of metal to keep the phone sturdy. One of the highlights of the Honor 8 was the reflective back and the same continues in the new generation model.

The curved glass is not the only change at the back. The Honor 9 makes subtle changes in the arrangement of the dual tone LED flash as well as laser focus, as now they are stacked one above the other. Also, the fingerprint sensor is moved to the front, integrated into the home button just like the Huawei P10. Despite these changes, the basic form factor of the phone remains the same and you’ll easily recognize that the phone is from the Honor family by just looking at its design.

The phone comes in multiple color options, including black, amber gold and the popular sea blue. However, the brand has added a new color option for the Honor 9 this year — Seagull Gray and it looks beautiful. As you can see in the Honor 9 hands on images, we have got the Seagull Gray model with us.

The display is vibrant and the touch is responsive. The bezels on the sides are thin and even the black borders (which we all hate) are super thin, thereby not interfering with your display experience.  You can actually check out the quality of the display in our Honor 9 hands on video added below.

The phone has similar dimensions as the Honor 8 — 147.3 x 70.9 x 7.5 mm and it still is lightweight at 155 grams. The curved back helps in the ergonomics and the 5.15-inch compact display ensures that it’ll be easy to use the phone one handed.

The EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7 running on the Honor 9 is snappy, without any lag. The fluid experience is also due to the powerful Kirin 960 that powers the phone along with 6GB of RAM inside. There are two storage options for the 6GB variant, 64GB and 128GB. There’s another 4GB RAM model with 64GB of storage. Storage on the phone shouldn’t be an issue since it comes with hybrid SIM card slot that uses SIM2 as MicroSD card slot whenever needed.

The sound quality of the phone is also supposed to be excellent as the Hi-Fi chip is said to be tuned by Rainer Maillard. The quality was good but we haven’t tested out the sound output in detail, so we’ll reserve our judgement for our detailed review.

The speakers, USB Type-C, and the headphone jack are all located at the bottom of the phone. You can take a look at the Mi 6 for comparison, lying on top on the Honor 9.

As for the dual cameras, the Huawei Honor 9 comes with the same setup as the Huawei P10 — 12MP main RGB camera along with a 20MP monochrome sensor. However, the Honor model lacks the Leica branding. But you get a lot of features in the camera department like moving picture mode (similar to live photos on iPhone) and portrait mode (for bokeh effect on portraits). There’s also hybrid zoom (as clearly mentioned at the back of the phone) for clear, lossless zoom.

Other features of the phone include NFC, IR port on top, and 3200mAh battery.

The phone starts at 2299 Yuan ($338) for the 4GB model and 2699 Yuan ($397) for the 6GB + 64GB model in China. You can get it for an extra premium price at several resellers online.

The Honor 9 is Huawei’s latest flagship model which was launched just last week. The device takes over from the delectable Huawei Honor 8 and came with a spectacular curved design with the curvatures at both the front and rear. This design ensures the Huawei Honor 9 has an all-glass body. The Honor 9’s teardown is here, courtesy of myfixguide.com and it provide us with an opportunity to have a glance at the internal components of the flagship.

One notable thing the teardown shows is the lack of screws at the bottom which means the outer covering is probably affixed to the fuselage using glue. Of course, the all-glass body makes it difficult to use a screw on the body so, the display screen and the rear panel were glued to the frame of the Honor 9. The back cover had to be heated for about 2 minutes using a hair dryer and then a little bit with a suction cup before a pick could be inserted around the edges to open it gradually. 

At the bottom, there are only openings for a speaker, a 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C port. While there are only two camera openings and an opening for the flash on the back cover. When the back cover is removed, the Honor 9 could be seen to still be using the classic three-stage design in which the upper part is the motherboard, the middle is the battery, the lower is the USB-C board. In order to achieve better heat dissipation, it uses a large piece of graphite thermal stickers to cover the fuselage. After the back is opened, the screws holding the motherboard to the metal plate can then be unscrewed. The entire workmanship is noticeably relatively complex.

The Huawei’s Honor 9 has arrived fully-spec’d to rival Xiaomi’s Mi 6 in the affordable high-end flagship battle. For all smartphone enthusiasts or consumers who would like a good price for a high-end device, picking the right device is a tricky decision. So, it makes sense to compare the two flagships from China, the Huawei Honor 9 vs Xiaomi Mi 6.

In this article, we will be comparing each phones’ primary features and help determine which option is best for you.

Display & Design

In terms of design, both smartphones share very similar characteristics, front and back glass-covered bodies with a metal rim on the sides. Dimensionally, the Xiaomi Mi 6 sizes at 145.17 x 70.49 x 7.45 mm whilst the Honor 9 at 147.3 x 70.9 x 7.5 mm; both devices operate as very slim slates, with the Honor 9 only thicker by a meager 0.05mm in depth, 2.13mm by height and 0.41mm by width. For long period use both phones come in light packages, Mi 6 at 168g and Honor 9 at a superlight 155g. Note: The Mi 6 also comes in a premium ceramic model, weighing at 182g.

Display

Both smartphones come with IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass, both sporting 5.15inch and resolution at 1080p (Full HD) at ~428 PPI pixel density. Mi 6’s screen covers at ~71.4% body to screen ratio, whilst the Honor 9 at ~69.9% body to screen ratio¹.

In terms of display quality, we will be acquiring an Honor 9 unit soon for more accurate details; however, from our review on the Xiaomi Mi 6, the device hasn’t disappointed in the balance of vibrancy, sharpness and color reproduction. Xiaomi has also pushed the minimum brightness down to a single nit of brightness, which is very impressive in comparison to other 1080p smartphones panels.

Color Options

The Mi 6 is available four body color options: Black, Blue, White, and Ceramic Black; whilst the Honor 9 is available in: Sea Blue, Amber Gold, Black, Seagull Gray.

Other Features

The Mi 6 have removed the loved 3.5mm, whilst the Honor 9 has kept the feature.

Our Pick: Honor 9.

The Honor 9 provides more choice in color whilst Mi 6 offers more choice in material (glass and ceramic), screens are similar on paper, however, the Mi 6 offers a smaller dimensional package but the Honor 9 weighs 13g less. Still, here the Honor 9 steal the win here as they have provided a 3.5mm headphone jack also.

Hardware Specifications

Processor, RAM, and Storage:

The Mi6 will be powered by Qualcomm’s current fastest Snapdragon 835 processor. It has octa-core chipset which includes four 2.35 GHz Kryo & four 1.9 GHz Kryo processors coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The Honor 9 is run with an in-house Kirin 960 Octa Core four 2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 & four 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53.

In terms of RAM and the storage, the Mi 6 comes with 64 or 128 GB of internal storage options with 6 GB RAM. Whereas the Honor 9 comes in two variants, 64GB + 4 GB RAM and 64 or 128 GB + 6 GB RAM.

The Honor 9 offers external microSD expansion supporting up to 256GB, however, the Mi 6 does not support storage expansion slots. Keeping this in mind, it’s important for you to decide which variant to purchase in consideration to your future storage needs.

Battery:

The Mi 6 comes with 3350 mAh and the Honor 9 with 3200mAh, both of which are non-removable batteries.

Our Pick: Tie.

This section is a very close call, both phones are powered with very powerful CPUs, benchmarks will show that the Snapdragon 835 edges higher in integer performance (completing simple tasks, e.g. web browsing). However, Kirin 960 remains close to the 835’s tail, outpacing the 820/821 also. The Honor 9 offers more choice in models with internal storage as well as MicroSD expansion, however, Mi 6 theoretically will last longer with a larger battery size.

Honor 9 vs Xiaomi Mi 6: Camera

Rear shooters:

For photo-fanatics, we are spoilt with both smartphones offering with dual-lens. Mi 6 is loaded with 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/1.8, and 12-megapixel telephoto lens f/2.6 aperture; the Honor 9 has a 20-megapixel lens (Mono) with f/2.2 and another 12-megapixel lens (RGB) with f/2.2. Note that the dual cameras on the Honor 9 are not Leica branded. Xiaomi has promoted the Mi 6s feature of 4-axis OIS improving steadiness of video capture, whilst featuring a lossless zoom (x2) and providing a (x10) digital zoom.

Front shooters:

Both these smartphone cameras have the common features namely geo-tagging pics, touch focus, face detection, etc.

For the selfie lot, the Honor 9 has a f/2.0 8-megapixel lens and Mi 6 has an 8-megapixel sensor but with unknown aperture.

Our Pick: Unsure.

This seems to be too close, I have not had the opportunity to test out each smartphone side by side to provide my honest opinion. On paper, both smartphones show great features and the smartphone will depend on whether you would prefer better contrast pictures from the Honor 9, due to the monochrome sensor, or better zoom and wide aspect photos from the Mi 6.

Features & OS

Both flagships are shipped with expected high-end smartphones features such as 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, fingerprint sensor, NFC, etc. The flagships both come with their own custom UIs, Mi 6 with MIUI 8.0 (based on Android v7.1.1) and Honor 9 EMUI 5.1 (based on v7.0).

Our Pick: Mi 6.

Mi 6 wins due to adapting relatively the latest Android Version currently. Personally, I like MIUI since it provides stable updates on a regular basis. As for Honor 9’s EMUI 5, I haven’t used it yet to judge how good it is. 

Availability & Pricing

The Mi 6 has an advantage here, as it has been released since April 2017 in the Chinese market already and available for the global market. The 64 GB and 128 GB versions of the release price for the Mi 6 is at ¥2,499 (~$367) and ¥2,899 (~$425) in China, these prices can be found cheaper on online retailers. Note: The price of the Ceramic version is much higher, priced at ~¥4132.81 ($607.99)³.

The Honor 9 will be on the backfoot here since it will be officially being on sale today. The Honor 9, 4GB RAM model will be priced at ¥2299 (∼$338), the 6GB RAM + 64GB variant will go for ¥2699 (∼$397), and the 6GB RAM + 128GB version will sell for ¥2999 (∼$441).

Opinion: Mi 6. Based on the release date prices, I believe the Mi 6 is the most ideal affordable smartphone to purchase on the date of publishing, this is because the Mi 6 is currently available and the directly competing models are more likely to be cheaper than the original release price from third-party retailers, not to forget the release prices for the Mi 6 are already lower. Huawei will need to receive comments from our reviewers and consumers on availability and price before further confirmation.

Honor 9 vs Xiaomi Mi 6: Conclusion

If you are already fans of either Xiaomi or Huawei, the choice will be rather simple, as both phone provide very similar specifications. However, if you are an indecisive consumer or looking to switch camps, these two flagships prove to be a very difficult couple to pick.

If you are someone who prefers a smartphone with the smallest footprint, different build material choice, bleeding edge internals, highest capacity battery, wide-angle & closeup photos, smoother videos; regular Android-based MIUI updates, connectivity with other same-branded products (Xiaomi’s smart-home products) and best prices (ex. Ceramic model), the Mi 6 is the best choice.

Whilst, if you prefer lightness, more ‘spec’ choices, 3.5mm headphone jack, powerful in-house CPU and better contrast photos, the Honor 9 is yours. Yes, the 3.5mm headphone jack could be a big advantage for the Honor 9, but we’ll have to see if it’s enough for consumers to pick the Honor 9 over Mi 6. The camera quality would be another big differentiating factor. We have seen that the Mi 6 manages to capture some great shots but we are yet to test Honor 9’s camera prowess.

The Honor 9 is the latest device from Huawei’s sub-brand. Unveiled this week, the new flagship improves upon the favorite features of its predecessor and brings some new features of its own.

Set to go on sale tomorrow, report reaching us says pre-order registrations for the Honor 9 is nearly 4 million. Huawei’s VMall is said to have received 2.83 million registrations; Jingdong Mall (JD.com) puts its own figures at 620,000; and Suning Tesco has recorded bookings of 320,000.

Sum them up and that is 3.77 million registrations in four days. The figure is said to even exclude some other online shops. It remains to be seen if there is enough stock tomorrow.

The Honor 9 has a 5.15-inch FHD display and is powered by the Kirin 960 chip. That is the same processor in the Huawei Mate 9, P10 and P10 Plus. There is a high-end version with 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage and a base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM.

Huawei‘s elite Honor brand yesterday launched the Honor 9 flagship in China and immediately the device opened for reservation on Jingdong. Barely 2 hours after, the Honor 9 reservation is almost getting to 400,00, pegged at 365,066 as at the time we grabbed the screen shot from Jingdong. In a few minutes, the figure had reached 367,349.

Apart from Jingdong, the Honor 9 would also go on sale via Huawei Mall (Vmall), Lynx, Suning and on Amazon.cn  but the data is just for Jingdong alone. What this implies is that the Honor 9 reservation may just be over 1 million presently. Thankfully, Huawei hinted that the Honor 9’s release was delayed in order for the company to increase the produced stock before its launch. So, even though the reservations may not translate into sales or demand but the figures show the demand would be high and there is just a good deal of stock to satisfy the demand. The Honor 9 is still expected to be sold out in seconds, though, when it goes on sale.

As a reminder, the Huawei Honor 9 features a  5.15-inch 1080p display and is powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 960 chip with 4GB /6GB RAM as well as 64GB /128GB storage versions. The device also packs a 3200mAh battery and a dual 20MP + 12MP camera similar to the Mate 9 and Huawei P10’s but without the Leica branding. Up front is an 8MP sensor. The Honor 9 comes in Sea Blue, Amber Gold, Black and Seagull Gray colours and starts at 2299 Yuan (∼$338).

Huawei’s Honor 9 has officially been released in China and judging from the immediate specs, we are looking at a fit contender to Xiaomi’s Mi 6.

Spokesperson Hu Ge stated that Zhao Ming, President of Huawei Honor brand, has responded to the feedback on previous launches of Honor models; reassuring there is a sufficient amount of stock to meet consumer demand.

According to NetEase’s reports, the Honor 9 release conference was postponed for one month to assure consumers that there was an adequate supply of devices available after the announcement.

Other smartphones have suffered from the demand for new 2017 Snapdragon 835 devices. Mi 6, and other expected smartphones, powered by the Snapdragon 835 and equipped UFS Storage, have been affected by stock shortages due to the tight supply chain distributing to the manufacturing of the Samsung S8.

The Honor 9 seems to be unlikely to be affected due to being powered by Huawei’s in-house CPU Chipset, Kirin 960; found in last year’s flagship models such as the Mate 9. This is expected due to reports of stable, consistent production and high successful yields.

Making the Honor 9 a very attractive rival to the Mi 6, this including the included 3.5mm headphone jack, MicroSD expansion, and dual camera setup. The likely swing factors being a choice between UIs and the market prices.

Almost  year ago, Huawei released the Honor 8 to worldwide acclaim. It received positive reviews in the West for its combination of an impressive build quality, flagship performance and affordable price tag. Today, the Honor 8 gets a worthy successor in form of the Honor 9

Honor 9 Design

The Honor 9 improves greatly on the design of its predecessor. It still maintains that beautiful mixture of metal and glass but its now curvier. Thanks to the 3D glass back that replaced the 2.5D glass on the Honor 8.

The reflective back makes a comeback on the Honor 9 too. The design became popular with the Honor 8 and has been adopted by Xiaomi fr the Mi 6 and by HTC for the U 11 this year. Though HTC takes it to another level and calls it Liquid Surface.

Honor 9 Specs

The Honor 9 has a 5.15-inch Full HD display. It is powered by the Kirin 960 and comes with 6GB of RAM and either 64B or 128GB of storage. There is also a 4GB RAM + 64GB model.

The rear mounted-fingerprint scanner has been moved to the front, doubling as a home button beneath the display. The Honor 9 also has a Hi-Fi audio chip tuned by Grammy Award winner, Rainer Mailard. Honor says listening to audio files is like listening to a live performance. There is NFC, an audio jack and a 3200mAh battery on board.

The phone runs Huawei’s EMUI 5.1 which is based on Android 7 and features a bunch of intelligent features such as resource allocation management and smart prediction.

Honor 9 Cameras

The Honor 9′  rear cameras are configured the same way as the Huawei P10 but lack the Leica branding. It is a combination of a 20MP monochrome sensor and a 12MP RGB sensor. The cameras have what is called hybrid zoom which lets you zoom in on objects and not lose details. There is a dual LED flash and a laser focus module right beside the cameras.

Honor says night shots will be superb thanks to the monochrome sensor that takes in more light. The Honor 9 will also be able to shoot images in portrait mode but not out of the box. The feature will come as a OTA update. The front camera is an 8MP f/2.0 sensor.

Honor 9 Price and Availability

The Honor 9 will come in Sea Blue, Amber Gold, Black and a new Seagull Gray color. The 4GB RAM variant will be priced at ¥2299 (∼$338), the 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM model will go for ¥2699 (∼$397), and the 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM version will sell for ¥2999 (∼$441).

Pre-orders will start tomorrow and close on June 15 while official sale begins on June 16. Honor says the device will be available in sufficient quantities.

The 4GB version is already listed on Vmall and Honor says it will be available on Amazon.cn on July 11 and on the official Honor site and Suning on July 12.

Huawei’s Honor brand had confirmed that it would be launching the  Honor 9 on June 12 in China. Ahead of that launch, the Honor 9 has reportedly appeared on Chinamobile’s website, open for booking or registration. The registration page also reveals some of the configuration of the Honor 9.

The listed specification is entirely similar with those that have featured in several leaks and the on TENAA too when the device was certified. Among the deails is the use of a 3D curved glass at the rear and we already know there is a 2.5D curved glass on the front. The camera specs is revealed as a 12MP + 20MP dual setup and rightly, a Hisilicon Kirin 960 chip will provide the firepower. The ChinaMobile listing also shows the presence of 6GB of RAM on the upcoming device. The TENAA listing reveals he presence of two RAM sizes of 4GB and 6GB.

In other specs, the Honor 9 comes with a 5.15-inch display with a resolution of 1980 x 1080p. Huawei recently revealed that it would hold an event on June 12 at the Shanghai Oriental Sports centre where the Honor brand  is expected to release the Honor 9. The theme of the conference is beautiful and colorful and in that regard, the company had shared on Weibo a teaser a few days back which suggested that the Honor 9 would be launched in an array of beautiful colors.

Before now, we have gotten a few details of the Honor 9 and yet more are coming out. A Weibo user has now revealed that the Honor 9 would come with a glass body and a metal fuselage. The leaked details clearly show that the Honor model would be strikingly different from the Honor 8. The glass back is also expected to have some level of curvature

The Honor 9 is expected to pack a dual camera setup which had been revealed to be a 12MP + 20MP camera setup just like on the Mate 9 and Huawei P10, only that the camera won’t come with the Leica badge. The device’s appearance on TENAA also afforded us the opportunity to see its real photos and to get more detail of its specs. Te Honor 9 is expected to have two different models, one packing a 4GB RAM and another with 6GB of RAM. Huawei and Honor both released a number of products last week. There was the 6A smartphone, the Play Pad 2 tablet, A2 smartband and two routers from Honor. Huawei, on the other hand released three new MateBooks, the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus, a new sports band, a panoramic camera for phones, and a Bluetooth headset. In spite of all these launches, Honor has released a new poster announcing the launch of the Honor 9…….and another smartband.

Although the Honor 8 Pro is roughly two months old, Huawei is still going on with the Honor 9. The launch is scheduled for June 12 at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center. The new flagship will retain the glass back and dual rear camera design of the Honor 8. However, the back glass is now a 3D curved glass.

Specifications that showed up on TENAA mentions a 5.15-inch 1080p display, Kirin 960 processor, and a 12MP + 20MP camera combo on the back. There will be a 4GB RAM model and a 6GB RAM version, both with 64GB of storage; and an 8MP camera up front.

The Honor 9 will feature a 3100mAh battery, dual SIM slot, have full network support, and run Android 7.0. So far we have seen the Honor 9 appear in gold and bright yellow but there is a possibility there will be more colors.

Huawei’s upcoming Honor brand smartphone dubbed Honor 9 has been in the news for a while now and has almost been confirmed as launching on June 27 but a real live photo of the device is still elusive. Huawei lid over its smartphones is always not so tight, such that we are lucky to have a preview of most of its models (albeit unofficially) before they are launched. But till this moment, that cannot be said of the Honor 9. Well, except this leaked image of the smartphone in the hands of a guy are actually the Huawei Honor 9.

The purported photo of the device popped up on China’s Weibo recently and shows some bit of details of the Honor phone. We must point out that we can’t say for sure if the image is real and even the leakster wasn’t so sure about that as well. However, one prominent detail that we can grasp from the leaked image is the absence of a rear fingerprint sensor on the device.That could mean the Honor 9 is charting a different course from the Honor 8 which featured a rear fingerprint scanner. Due to the large phablet size of the Honor 8, there were some criticisms of that design because of the difficulty which would be encountered while attempting to use the fingerprint sensor during one-handed operation.

As you would have heard by now, the Honor 9 is expected with a dualrear camera and that is featured in the leaked photo. The camera is said to be the same 20MP + 12MP sensors used on the Mate 9 and Huawei P10 but the Honor 9’s would be without the Leica badge.

Huawei’s Honor 9 is expected as the company’s next “big thing” for this year. Huawei sure seems to have got a busy itinerary lined up for this year, obviously in its bid to retain its top 3 positions globally and perhaps, surpass the duo of Samsung and Apple who both occupy the first and second spot respectively. That is a tall order but they seem to be on course with the launch of the P10, P10 Plus, Honor V9 and Honor 8 Lite. There are talks of the Huawei Honor 9 joining the list soon as the company is rumored as planning to release the Honor 9 on June 27 in a conference billed to take place in Berlin, Germany.

While we cannot account for the veracity of the claim, the Honor 9 continues to edge towards a possible release as it has reportedly gotten network license certification by China’s telecoms certification agency, TENAA. Three new Huawei models with model numbers STF-AL10, STF-AL00 and STF-TL10 were recently revealed to have gotten network approval and they are believed to be the Honor 9 models.

This joins earlier rumors that the Honor 9 has also gotten radio transmission approval and had also been 3C certified. The 3C certification shows the device will have support for 9V/2A fast charge. Also, Huawei’s Honor president Zhao Ming George seems to have debunked rumors that the Honor 9 will not have a 3.5mm audio jack. The Honor president’s latest comments, coupled with an earlier one also on Weibo, thus means the Honor 9 will likely feature a 3.5mm audio jack after all.

A fortnight ago, leaked renders of the upcoming Honor 9 surfaced online revealing the lack of an audio jack on the device. Although we already mentioned that the image might be a fake, a Weibo post by President of Honor, Zhao Ming may be what we need to quell the rumor.

Mr Zhao Ming had posted a response to the rumor floating around via his official account asking why they would want to remove the earphone jack. The post wasn’t directed to anyone in particular but since he specifically included his location (Shenzhen Longgang District) which is where Huawei has its headquarters and where the Honor 9 is being made. It is safe to infer that he was talking about the Honor 9.

With up to two flagship devices in its kitty at the moment, Huawei still has no intention of calling it quit or slowing down in its race to a strong finish at the end of the year. The company’s soon-to-be bride is likely the Honor 9 which has been the subject of a couple of leaks and rumours.

The latest rumor surrounding the Huawei Honor 9 borders on its launch date. Latest rumour from some internet users in China is that the Honor 9 would be launched specifically on June 21 with some saying June 20. Before now we’ve heard rumors of the Honor 9 launching towards the end of June with no specific date set but the launch date is  featured on this latest rumor. Now, we cannot be so sure about the rumored launch date as Huawei is yet to issue an official statement on that.

The Honor 9 is expected with the same 12MP+20MP dual camera setup just as the Mate 9 packs but the Leica badge won’t likely feature on this model. In addition, the Honor 9 is said to be tailored to the Xiaomi Mi 6’s design and specs. The leaked images of the device show a striking similarity between the two and the specs seems to align as well. The Huawei Honor 9 is expected with a 5.2 inches display and will be powered by a Kirin 960 backed by 6GB of RAM.

The Honor 9 had also appeared on China’s 3C for certification. From the 3C appearance, the Honor 9 is suspected to be the models STF-AL10, STF-AL00, STF-TL10 which would likely come with support for 5VDC / 2A or 9VDC / 2A charge output. The flagship is also expected with a front fingerprint sensor instead of the rear-mounted stock. The Honor 9 is also rumoured to come priced at 2499 Yuan for the base model. Why do I have a feeling the Honor 8 will be up to take on the Xiaomi Mi 6? We, apart from the specs that almost match each other,  except for a difference in processor type, the Mi 6 and Honor 9 are said to have similar designs. We can’t be so sure about that, though.

The Huawei Honor 9 is in works as its leaked images have already surfaced in April as well as earlier in this month. The Honor 8 came with rear-facing dual cameras and the leaked shots of Honor 9 have revealed that it will continue to feature dual rear cameras.

The dual rear camera module of Honor 8 includes a pair of 12-megapixel sensor. According to a Chinese leakster, the Honor 9’s rear-mounted twin camera setup would include 20-megapixel + 12-megapixel sensors.

The 2016 Huawei Mate 9 flagship smartphone features Leica branded 20-megapixel monochrome + 12-megapixel RGB sensors. Like the Mate 9, the Honor 9 is also expected to feature 20-megapixel monochrome and 12-mgeapixel RGB sensors. There is no confirmation on whether the Honor 9 will feature Leica branded dual rear snappers.

As far as the design of the phone is concerned, the leakster claims that the Honor 9 appears quite similar to the Xiaomi Mi 6. Leaked photos of the Honor 9 has revealed that is has a glossy appeal as it appears to feature glass rear and has curved edges like the Mi 6. It seems to be a hybrid of Mi 6 and Honor 8. Like the predecessor phone, dual rear cameras are placed on the left corner which is accompanied with laser focus module and dual-LED flash.

The major change in the design is that the fingerprint scanner is no longer present on the backside of the Honor 9. It is now present under the physical Home button at the frontside. On Honor 8, the fingerprint reader could function as Smart Key to start any desirable function such as open any app, launch camera, take screenshot and so on. Since the fingerprint scanner is moved at the front of Honor 9, it is likely that the company may have axed the Smart Key feature.

Recent information has revealed that the Honor 9 could be the first phone from the Chinese company to come without a 3.5mm audio jack. The bottom side of the phone has a USB Type-C port placed between a pair of two identical speaker grilles.

The leakster has claimed that the Huawei Honor 9 would be unveiled at the end of the coming month. The launch of the Honor 9 at June seems likely because the predecessor phone was launched in July last year.

LeEco and Xiaomi are two Chinese manufacturers that have phones without headphone jacks. Huawei might be joining them soon as leaked images of the yet-to-be-released Honor 9 reveals the lack of an audio jack.

While the images are renders and aren’t confirmed to have originated from Huawei, we can’t rule out the possibility of it happening. It makes perfect sense that the first phone to not have an audio jack may come from the Honor sub-brand and not the main Huawei brand.

Instead of dealing with the backlash and possible sales drop that may arise from the removal of the audio port if it were the flagship Huawei P10 or Huawei P10 Plus. It is safer to test the waters with the Honor 9. The outcome will determine if Huawei will make the decision to either remove or retain the audio jack in the next Huawei flagship.

The render shows the Honor 9 still keeps its dual rear cameras and glass back and front. There is a front-mounted fingerprint scanner and what appears to be dual front cameras as well. The top of the phone is bare while the bottom houses the USB Type-C port flanked on both sides by speaker grilles. Volume rocker and power button are lined up on the right.

Like it is mentioned above, these images have not been verified to have come from Huawei, so take this info with a pinch of salt.

Huawei launched the dual camera Honor V9 as a China exclusive back in February. Two months later, the V9 was internationally released as the Honor 8 Pro. So you should understand why we were surprised when we came across these images said to be of the Honor 9.

The  images were posted on Weibo by @ichangezone and show a phone that looks like a cross between the Honor 8 and the just released Xiaomi Mi 6. The favorite features from the Honor 8 have been transferred to the Honor 9. The dual rear cameras along with the laser focus module and LED flash are positioned in the exact same place and the reflective glass back is still present too.

The major change is in the fingerprint scanner which has been moved from the back to the front. It also doubles as a home button and sits where the “Honor” name used to be on the Honor 8.

At the moment, we will advice you take this  news with a pinch of salt. The images are just renders and it is hard to think of new features for the phone. The Kirin 960 is still the latest chip from Huawei and that is already in the Honor 8 Pro. It also doesn’t make sense to release the Honor 9 anytime soon as that will probably affect the sales of the Honor 8 Pro.
