Every year, since it launched the first Pixel phone, Google has shown us what it can do with a very good camera software and a single sensor. Thanks to developers, you don’t have to own a Pixel phone to be able to experience how good Google’s camera app is as the APK can be ported and modified to work on other devices. Some devices already have the ported version of the Pixel 3’s camera but a new one has been released that works on a number of LG phones.

The ported version brings the camera performance of the Pixel 3 including the popular Night Sight feature to a bunch of LG phones including the LG V20 thanks to XDA Senior member, cstark27. The APK works on the LG V20, LG V30, LG V35, and the LG G6. if you own the LG G7 ThinQ and the LG V40 ThinQ, you can also try it but it is said to be unstable. However, there is a chance a newer version that works well with the two phones will be released in the near future.

The LG G7 ThinQ will launch tomorrow. The flagship is a successor to last year’s LG G6. While the new flagship will come with Android Oreo out of the box, most owners of the G6 are still stuck on Android Nougat but that won’t be for long.

For a device that was the company’s flagship for 2017, you’d think LG would have been quicker with the update. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. The manufacturer promised the update will start rolling out by the end of April and thankfully it has begun.

Some users in LG’s home country, South Korea, have begun receiving the update and we expect it to begin rolling out to other regions too. The update will bring not only the latest version of Android but some new features to the phone.

There were reports LG was planning a release of a new color variant for its G6 flagship. Surprisingly, rather than a new color variant, LG has announced three new colors including two new ones for the mid-range LG Q6.

The LG G6 now comes in Moroccan Blue, Lavender Violet, and Raspberry Rose while the LG Q6 adds Moroccan Blue and Lavender Violet to its available color range.

The LG G6 was initially launched in Astro Black, Ice Platinum, Terra Gold, Marine Blue, Mystic White; with three new colors, you should have no problem choosing a color that resonates with your personality. The Q6 on the other hand now boasts 7 color variants in total.

Both the LG G6 and LG Q6 pack LG’s FullVision 18:9 display although with different sizes and resolutions. They are also very different with respect to their internals and of course, their pricing.

LG released a Raspberry Rose color variant for the V30 at the beginning of the year. The Korean-based company has hinted that the LG G6 may also get the same color variant next month.

LG has not confirmed the release date yet but they may want to release it so it coincides with Valentines’s Day. The new variant will bring the total number of color variants to six.

The LG G6 is almost a year old and its successor, the G7 is said to have been delayed as it is being built from scratch again. The company is said to be planning an advanced version of the V30 with enhanced AI features to launch at MWC instead.

The LG G6 has a 5.7” 1440 x 2880 display. it is powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 32/64/128GB (G6+) of storage.

The phone packs dual 13MP rear cameras in a wide-angle + super-wide angle configuration and a 5MP selfie camera. The G6 doesn’t only have an IP68-rating, it also has a MIL-STD-810 certification meaning it can survive extreme temperatures, pressures, vibrations, shocks and salt immersion.

Samsung has officially confirmed that it will be present at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 tech exhibition in the coming month to announce the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship phones. Fresh information suggests that Huawei and LG will not be launching their next-generation flagship phones at MWC 2018 to avoid clashing with Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.

Previous reports have claimed that LG and Huawei would be respectively showcasing G7 and P11 (or P20) flagship phones at MWC 2018. However, instead of the LG G7, the South Korean company is expected to debut an advanced edition of the LG V30. As far as the launch of LG G7 is concerned, it is speculated to debut in March or April.

Huawei is also reportedly skipping the launch of its next-generation flagship at MWC 2018. Rumors have it that it will be holding a dedicated launch in Europe in April to announce the P11 series. At MWC 2018, Huawei is expected to announce tablets and 2-in-1 notebooks. Some other reasons that has reportedly delayed the arrival of P11 are internal and external challenges for selling Huawei phones in the U.S. market, stabilizing the supply and demand for chipsets and enhancing the quality of the triple camera setup.

At MWC 2017, Samsung had unveiled the Galaxy Tab S3, while LG had announced the LG G6 and Huawei had debut the P10 series. Market experts are of the view that Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be the only major smartphones at MWC 2018 as other companies will want to avoid clashing of their flagship phones with the S9 duo.

Recent reports have revealed that the Galaxy S9 and S9 will be unveiled on Feb. 25 and it will be available in the home country in early March. The pre-orders of the Galaxy S9 duo are expected to start on March 1 and their shipments are likely to begin on March 16.

Since the past few years, LG has been launching G series smartphones in the first quarter of the year and it has been releasing the V series smartphones in third quarter of the year. In a bid to help its struggling smartphone business that has encountered losses in 11 straight quarters, LG has decided that it will not be setting a regular timeline for launching its smartphones.

On Wednesday, when LG Electronics Vice Chairman Cho Sung-jin was asked about the estimated launch time of the LG G7 during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018, he responded by saying that the company won’t be announcing new phones just because rivaling companies are doing so and it will be launching new smartphones only when it is needed. It However, he added that the company will continue to launch more variants of the G series and V series smartphones.

LG has been doing well in home appliance business and other sectors, but it has met with very slow growth in the smartphone business. In 2017, it had released the LG G6 and LG V30 with full screen design, but most of its earnings did not come from its flagship smartphones, but from budget phones. Compared to 2016, LG was to reduce its losses in mobile business by 40 percent in 2017. Analyst are of the view that LG’s mobile business will suffer in this year too, but it will continue to reduce it losses.

Cho did not directly confirm that the company is changing the strategy towards mobile business because of the losses it has been facing. ET News, a South Korean publication had recently revealed that the LG G7 would be launching in March and it will be released in the market in April. Today, the same publication has revealed the key specs of the LG G7.

The publication claims that LG will be beginning the mass production of the LG G7 in March. Since it will be arriving in South Korea in April, the company is delaying its release by a month when compared to the market release of the LG G6 in the previous year. According to The Investor, the South Korean company will not be unveiling its next flagship phone at the MWC 2018. Citing information received from a South Korean telecom official, the publication has reported that the LG G7 will be unveiled in March and it will be made available for buying in April this year.

LG is known for releasing its G series flagship phones with the latest chipset. However, last year, instead of powering the LG G6 with the Snapdragon 835, it had to settle with Snapdragon 821 chipset for it because Samsung had acquired the initial stocks of SD835 for its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones.

Now that the successor of the LG G6 is expected to debut a bit late, it is speculated that the company wants to power it with the Snapdragon 845. The upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+ are also rumored to be powered by the same chipset.

A YouTube channel named Concept Creator has uploaded a video that showcases the concept design of the LG G7. Its final design will not be same as the concept model as it is a product of imagination.

The LG G7 concept model seems to be sporting a textured glass panel on its backside. The device is shown in colors like silver, light blue and red and it looks like the phone features a metallic frame. Like the G6, the concept design of LG G7 shows that it has a horizontally arranged dual rear cameras on the back panel.

Below the dual camera setup is a fingerprint scanner. The bottom side of the phone features a USB-C port. There is a 3.5mm audio jack at the topside of the phone. The G7 branding can be seen at the bottom portion of the rear panel. The left edge of the G7 concept model has the volume buttons and its right side features the Power key.

The frontside of the LG G7 concept model shows that it has a display that offers a higher screen-to-body ratio than the G6. Even though there is no mentioning of the specifications of the LG G7 in the video by Concept Creator, it can be assumed that the South Korean company will retain 18:9 aspect ratio on the screen of the phone. The side bezels are almost non-existent, but there are thin bezels at the top and bottom sides of the display. The LG G7 concept device seems to be equipped with dual front speakers.

Early rumors have claimed that the LG G7 would be driven by Snapdragon 845 chipset and it would be introduced ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The rumor mill has revealed that the LG G7 may get unveiled as early as January 2018. The company is also expected to introduce its own AI assistant on the LG G7 phone.

LG has finally unveiled one of the most anticipated smartphones of this year, the LG V30. Unlike the predecessor models that featured a secondary ticker screen, the LG V30 ditches it for good. It is packed with several multimedia features and it comes with an amazing f/1.6 aperture camera sensor.

LG V30 Design

LG V30 sports a MIL-STD-810G standard IP68 certified aluminum chassis with Gorilla Glass 5 panel on its rear side. It measures 151.7 x 75.4 x 7.4 mm. Since it weighs 158 grams, it is lighter than the LG G6 that has a smaller design. Thermal pad and heat pipe present inside the LG V30 kills all the heat created inside it. It will be coming in four color options such as Black, Titan, Sliver and Pink.

The LG V30 is the first among all the LG flagship phones to come with a polymer-OLED screen (P-OLED) coupled with FullVision design that was introduced on the LG G6. The Moto Z2 Force’s ShatterShield unbreakable screen also features a P-OLED display as we can understand how durable the display of LG V30 will be.

The HDR 10 compliant 6-inch FullVision display of the LG V30 delivers an aspect ratio of 18:5 and a resolution of 1,440 x 2,880 pixels. The side bezels are not visible and the upper and lower bezels are slim which allows the LG phablet to deliver an aspect ratio of 82 percent.

The Snapdragon 835 chipset powers the LG V30 along with 4 GB of RAM. It will be available in two storage choices such as 64 GB and 128 GB. As LG had confirmed before the launch of V30, its dual rear camera includes the world’s widest f/1.6 aperture Crystal Clear lens of 16-megapixel that includes features like 3-axis OIS, laser and PDAF coupled with a 13-megapixel f/1.9 aperture lens. The frontside of the phablet is fitted with a 5-megapixel selfie snapper.

The LG V30 continues to feature a 3.5mm headphone slot and the sound experience is enriched with Bang & Olufsen audio system. The audio receive of the LG V30 also functions like a microphone.

LG UX 6.0 Brings Special Features

With the new LG UX 6.0+ overlaid on LG V30’s Android 7.1 Nougat OS, the company has introduced 9 different kinds of Always-on Display screens that allows users to access notifications and quick tools from the lock screen. LG has not included a fingerprint sensor on this phone. The LQ Q6 series phones are running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS that is customized with LG UX 6.0. Other common features of LG Q6, LG Q6+ and LG Q6a include LTE/3G/2G data connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, v4.2 Bluetooth, NFC and USB Type-B 2.0. LG has officially confirmed through media invitation that it will be unveiling the LG Q6 in Poland on July 11. It is said to be a smaller edition of the LG G6. At the end of the previous month, Evan Blass, one of the most trusted leaksters, had the LG M-700 smartphone spotted at FCC is the LG Q6 phone. The same LG M-700 phone had appeared on Geekbench in March.

The LGE LG-M700 smartphone is running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. It is driven by MSM8937 Qualcomm chipset that features an octa-core processor working at 1.4 GHz. The MSM8937 chip is the Snapdragon 430. The SD 430 is present under the hood of smartphones like Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Xiaomi Redmi 4, ASUS ZenFone 3 Laser and Motorola Moto G5.

The SoC of the LG Q6 is supported by 3 GB of RAM. On single-core test, it has recorded a score of 622 and on multi-core, it has scored 1777. The LG G6 marked the arrival of full-screen display in the mobile phone industry. It features a 5.7-inch Full Vision full-display that offers a resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 pixels that offers an aspect ratio of 18:9.

According to Blass, the LQ Q6 would be coming with an 18:9 aspect ratio support display. This shows that the smartphone would be sporting a full-screen display like the LG G6. However, the exact size of its display is not known. However, it is speculated to either feature a 5.4-inch display. It won’t be featuring dual rear cameras like the LG G6. Blass had claimed that the LG Q6 will be equipped with a single camera of 13-megapixel and 3 GB of RAM. Speculations indicate that it may feature Sony IMX258 sensor for its main camera.

Still, there several other features like front camera configuration, inbuilt storage capacity and battery capacity are not known yet. Since it has received certification by FCC, it is expected to be arrive in the U.S. This budget phone may launch with a pricing that is less than $400. Since the smartphone is slated to launch next Tuesday, the rumor mill is likely to reveal more information on the phone in the coming weekend.

In April, the rumor mill had revealed leaked photos and specifications of the alleged LG G6 Mini. Evan Blass, a well-known leakster has tweeted that the alleged LG G6 Mini could be launching as LG Q6.

According to the above tweet from the leakster, an LG phone with model number LG Q6 has been recently spotted on FCC with a model number of M700. He claims that the phone would be coming with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It will be featuring a single camera of 13-megapixel and its chipset will be supported by 3 GB of RAM. The tweet carries a link to a tweet from Jon Rettinger (@Jon4Lakers) that carries a link of an LG G6 Mini article that was published in April.

Techno Buffalo that was first to reveal leaked specifications and plenty of pictures of smaller version of LG G6 had stated that the handset features a 5.4-inch screen that produces offers a screen-to-body ratio of under 80 percent. It would be supporting an aspect ratio of 18:9 like the LG G6’s 5.7-inch screen. The LG G6 offers a screen to body ratio of 78.6 percent.

There is no confirmation on whether the LG Q6 phone would be coming with the same specs as the LG G6. Hence, there is a possibility that it could feature the Snapdragon 821 SoC that is present under the hood of the LG G6 or it may be fueled by a mid-range processor.

The images showing the rear side of the phone suggest that it would be coming with dual rear cameras like the LG G6. However, Blass claims it will be coming with a single shooter of 13-megapixel. The rear side of the alleged LG G6 also featured a “G6” name at the bottom part, but the tipster states that it would be arriving as LG Q6. The leaked images reveal that the bottom side of the phone features a USB Type-C port and the topside has a 3.5mm jack. On the left edge are the volume controllers and a Power key.

As of this writing, there is no confirmation on when the South Korean company will be launching the LG Q6. It is likely that the phone would be aimed towards emerging markets and may not launch in the U.S.

Reports from South Korea has revealed that technology giant LG has scheduled the official launch of the LG G6 Plus and the 32GB version of the G6 for July 30. LG had announced the G6 Plus as well as the G6 32GB storage variant last week without disclosing when the new variants would become available in the market. But from all indications, the company would star selling both variants in its home country from June 30. The models will also start hitting other markets gradually. Also, the G6 Plus will come in Optical Astro Black, Optical Marine Blue, and Optical Terra Gold colours. LG had earlier disclosed that the Optical Marine Blue and Optical Terra Gold will also be available for the G6 64GB model.

The G6 Plus will come with a monstrous 128GB of storage and will be available in Optical Astro Black, Optical Marine Blue, and Optical Terra Gold colours. LG had earlier disclosed that the Optical Marine Blue and Optical Terra Gold will also be available for the 64GB model. LG also disclosed that the G6 will be getting a range of software upgrades that would usher in features like face print, low power consumption, and covered lens warning.

A South Korean publication had reported in the previous week that LG V30 would be launching in August and the LG G7 will debut in January 2018. Today, a well-known tipster has revealed on Weibo that the LG V30 will be launching ahead of Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Since the Note 8 is speculated to launch in August end, the LG V30 is likely to break cover earlier in the same month. The LG V10 was introduced in October 2015 whereas its successor had arrived in September 2016. The LG V20 is the first non-Google device to come with Android Nougat preinstalled. There is no confirmation on whether the LG V30 would be launching with Android O in August.

A report that is almost a month old had revealed that the LG V30 would be equipped with an OLED panel. According to the leakster, the OLED panel for the LG V30 will be supplied by LG Display. Previous speculations have suggested that the LG V30 may have a curved OLED panel. 

The Snapdragon 821 driven LG G6 is fitted with a LCD panel. The LG G6 features a 5.7-inch Full Vision LCD screen that offers an aspect ratio of 18:5 and produces a display resolution of 1,440 x 2,880 pixels. The LG V30 is now speculated to come with a Full Vision OLED screen. Previous have also suggested that the secondary ticker screen will be placed at the top bezel area of the screen.

The leakster further claims that the LG V30 will be driven by Snapdragon 835 chipset and 6 GB of RAM. How will it compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that will be coming with dual rear cameras? The tipster has revealed that the LG V30 will be equipped with dual cameras at the front and rear.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were introduced with full-screen design at March end this year. In order to grab the attention of the market, LG debuted the LG G6 phone earlier this year during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.

Going ahead in this year, the Galaxy Note 8 is slated to launch in August end and the next-generation iPhones totting full-screen design are expected to launch in September. The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are pegged to launch in October. Hence, instead of releasing LG V series phone in October as it did before, LG may want to launch the LG V30 earlier this year in August so that it can attract the market by arriving before the popular flagship phones.

At the start of this month, South Korean media had revealed that two new variants of LG G6 dubbed as LG G6 Plus and LG G6 Pro would be launching at the end of this month in the home market. Both the models were expected to debut on June 27, but LG has today already launched them as LG G6+ and LG G6 32 GB.

It is not known as to why LG didn’t choose to introduce these variants when the LG G6 was officially unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 event in February this year. LG is selling different variants of the LG G6 in varied markets. Some markets have received LG G6 with wireless charging feature whereas the other markets have received it without the wireless charging feature.

The regular LG G6 model that has been available in South Korea lacks wireless charging. However, the LG G6 available in the U.S. comes enabled with wireless charging. The U.S. variant did not receive Quad DAC feature that is available on the regular LG G6 for South Korean customers.

However, the LG G6+ which is now exclusively available in South Korea includes wireless charging feature as well as a higher storage capacity of 128 GB. So, it seems that the LG G6+ is the best edition of the phone.

The original edition of the LG G6 comes with 64 GB of native storage. The LG G6 32 GB is the other new variant of the LG G6 that was dubbed as the LG G6 Pro by the rumor mill.

The LG G6+ and LG G6 32 GB have something that is unavailable on the regular LG G6. The LG G6+ will be available in choices like Optical Astro Black, Optical Terra Gold, and Optical Marine Blue. On the other side, the LG G6 32 GB will be coming in non-optical Terra Gold and non-optical Marine Blue color options. It will also come in Mystic White which is also available for the original LG G6.

LG has only announced the LG G6+ and G6 32 GB smartphones for South Korea, but has not confirmed on when will it be made available in the country. Also, there is no confirmation on whether the other markets like the U.S. will be receiving the new LG G6 variants. The regular LG G6 was launched in South Korea for 899,000 KRW (~$802) in South Korea. Previous reports have claimed that LG G6+ and LG G6 32 GB will be respectively priced at 999,800 KRW (~$892) and 799,800 KRW (~$710).

A South Korean publication has revealed that LG has reportedly started the research and development of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The South Korean company is said to have created a new division consisting of two research centers that will dedicatedly work on the development of AI tech. The AI tech is expected to be available on the wide range home products by LG. It is also likely that the company may be preparing to introduce its AI assistant on LG G7 flagship phone that will release next year.

As mentioned above, apart from smartphones, the LG AI tech will be coming to various kinds of home appliances and auto parts that are manufactured by the South Korean company. The new division built for AI consists of two wings, one will be providing AI tech in the robotics industry and the other wing will be mainly dealing with AI. Both the research centers will be supervised by the office of Chief Technology Officer.

The research center for robotics will be plainly concentrating on making core technologies for smart robotics. The research center for AI will be devoted towards research and development for deep learning. It will comprise of research wherein a computer will be able to emulate the functioning of the human brain.

Earlier this year, the South Korean company employed the concept of deep learning in some of its home appliances. The smart refrigerator from LG Is aimed towards providing more convenience to the users by recognizing their usage and eating patterns. The robotic vacuum cleaner is able to identity objects in the room by capturing images. This way it will be able to remember obstacles to avoid them.

Samsung introduced its Bixby AI assistant on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ flagship phones. The company is expected to make the feature available on more number of smartphones such as the Galaxy C10 in the near future. LG is already rumored to be working on LG G7 that is speculated to come powered with the upcoming Snapdragon 845 chipset. The LG G7 could be its first smartphone to arrive with its own AI assistant.

LG had launched the LG G6 phone in February during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 event. At the beginning of this month, ET News, a South Korean publication had reported that LG is planning to introduce two new variants called LG G6 Plus and LG G6 Pro in this month. Fresh information by the same publication reveals that the new smartphones are slated to get announced on June 27.

The LG G6 Plus is expected to come with an internal storage of 128 GB and wireless charging. The LG G6 available in South Korea does not support wireless charging, but its US variant supports it. The LG G6 Pro comes with an internal storage of 32 GB, meaning that it will come half the native storage that is available on LG G6 in Korea. Hence, the “Pro” branding sounds a bit weird for the new variant that offers lesser storage. It is not known as to what other new features are available on LG G6 Pro.

The LG G6 Pro and LG G6 Plus would be debuting in a new color variant called Optical Astro Black. This new color variant will show different hues of black depending on the reflection of the light.

The regular LG G6 was launched in the home country with a pricing of 899,000 KRW (~$802). The LG G6 Plus will be retailing at 999,800 KRW (~$892). At the start of this month, LG had introduced the LG Pay mobile payment solution which is based on Wireless Magnetic Communication tech that will allow users to touch their LG phones at credit card devices to initiate transaction.

At present, the LG G6 is the only device from the company that supports LG Pay. The new variants of LG G6 are expected to contribute to the success of its mobile payment service. LG will add support for other devices soon.

One hundred and sixty-eight grams. That is the weight of the Xiaomi Mi 6. Doesn’t sound like its heavy for a phone, especially one with a 5.15-inch display. However, when you compare the weight of the Mi 6 to that of other flagship devices that share the same display size or even larger, then you would ask this same question. Why does the Mi 6 weigh so much?

The Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a FHD display, dual rear cameras, 6GB of RAM, 64GB/128GB of storage and a 3350mAh battery. Its body is made from a mixture of glass and metal. Glass on the front and rear, and a metal frame that goes around it. But does that justify its 168g weight?

Below are a list of phones that weigh less than the Xiaomi Mi 6:

• Samsung Galaxy S8 – 5.8-inch dual curved display, 3000mAh battery, aluminium frame with glass front and back  = 155g
• Huawei P10 – 5.1-inch display, 3200mAh battery, aluminium unibody = 145g
• LG G6 – 5.7-inch display, 3300mAh battery, aluminium frame with glass front and back = 163g
• Moto G5 Plus – 5.2-inch display, 3000mAh battery, aluminium unibody = 155g
• OnePlus 3T – 5.5-inch display, 3400mAh battery, aluminium unibody = 158g
• Xiaomi Mi Note 2 – 5.7-inch display, 4070mAh battery, aluminium frame and glass front and back = 166g
• Moto Z Force – 5.5-inch display, 3500mAh battery, aluminium frame and glass front and back = 163g
• Xiaomi Mi 5 – 5.15-inch display, 3000mah battery, aluminium frame and glass front and back = 129g

Some of the devices above have more or less the same screen size as the Mi 6, others have larger displays. There are also others with larger displays and larger batteries but the unique feature they share is they weigh less than the Mi 6.

Take the Mi Note 2 for example. Battery capacity is 4070mAh and display size is 5.7-inches but it still weighs 2g less than the Mi 6. It is also built from metal and glass. We are trying to understand why the Mi 6 weighs more and the only reason that comes to mind is the aluminium frame being the culprit for the extra weight.

The LG G6 was announced at MWC 2017, sporting a unique 5.7-inch Full Vision display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Even though LG’s latest flagship isn’t powered by the new Snapdragon 835 processor, its reviews have been mainly positive. News has it that the Korean electronics giant is working on a smaller version called the G6 Mini.

The LG G6 Mini is rumored to launch with a 5.4-inch display that will have the same aspect ratio has its bigger sibling. Its screen-to-body ratio will be under 80%. Other specification details are currently unknown though we can be sure it won’t be getting the Snapdragon 835 chipset.

Images of the device have also leaked online and they look identical to the original. There are dual rear cameras on the back, positioned above the fingerprint scanner; and the name “G6” written at the base. There is an audio jack sitting at the top and a USB Type-C port and speaker grille lining the bottom.

LG G6 Mini might not be the final name of the device. The last time LG used the Mini name was in the LG G2 Mini, so we are leaning towards them sticking to it for the G6 too.

Samsung and LG are rumored to push their mobile device display technology further as they are speculated to be working on a screen that is curved on four sides. Samsung is currently selling flagship phones with screens that are curved on their left and right edges. However, both the South Korean companies are expected to launch phones with displays that are not only curved at left and right edges but also at the top and bottom edges in future.

Samsung and LG have both respectively introduced huge-sized displays that are called Infinity Display and Full Vision on their recently released smartphones. The Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch dual-edge curved screen and the Galaxy S8+ has a larger 6.2-inch dual-edge curved display that carry support for an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and a resolution of 1,440 x 2,960 pixels. On the other side, the LG G6 has a 5.7-inch screen that offers an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 1,440 x 2,880 pixels.  However, the report about quad edge curved screens suggest that both South Korean will soon start a trend that will be followed by other smartphone makers in future.

The quad edge curved screens are expected to occupy 98 percent of the frontal portion of the phone. Such screens can be referred to as true bezel-less screen that will be provide more real estate on the screen without the need to increase the size of actual size of the phone.

Apple has an ongoing two-year deal with Samsung in which the latter is supplying displays for iPhones. The new report states that the Cupertino company had considered using quad edge curved screen on Apple iPhone 8 that is speculated to launch in celebration of the 10^th anniversary of iPhones later this year. However, in the previous week, it was reported that Apple will not be using a wrap-around display on iPhone 8, but rather use a flat OLED screen.

Also, the images of a dummy iPhone 8 that appeared yesterday show that it features a flat screen and there are no bezels present at the top or bottom. Apple has reportedly placed orders for 92 million OLED screens with Samsung for the iPhone 8.

The report states that there is one major hurdle that has come in the way of Samsung and LG in manufacturing a screen with four edge curves. The issue is that such a display has a spot at each corner where the touch response does not work. In addition to this, the present lamination techniques do not work with a screen featuring four curved edges. Hence, if Samsung wants to introduce quad edge curved display on Galaxy S9, it will have to adopt a new way to laminate it. However, it seems that Samsung and LG will take more time before such a screen is made available on consumer devices.

Elephone is joining the fray of manufacturers with phones with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The other exciting part is that, the new device will also be taking on the Xiaomi Mi MIX with its bezel-less design.

LG kicked off the 18:9 aspect ratio with its LG G6‘ Full Vision Display. Samsung followed with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ which both have an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. While all three phones have shaved off a large part of their bezels, they still can’t match that of this new device Elephone is working on.

It is important to note that this device is still a prototype, so there is no info on when it will launch and how much it will cost. There are also no specification details available.

One thing you’d notice from the images is that there doesn’t seem to be a front camera, not even on the lower bezel like in the Mi MIX. But if you take a look at the rear camera, it’s designed in such a way that it can be raised up.

The phone also doesn’t seem to have a fingerprint scanner on the back or up in front, so it’s likely that it’s embedded under the display.

After hundreds of leaks and rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is finally official. This is one of the most important phones in the history of the South Korean company, given that it’s the first major flagship after the huge debacle with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. So far, the company seems to have done a very good job with the S8, at least on paper, and that’s why let’s check out Samsung Galaxy S8 versus its most direct rival, the LG G6. Both phones are different in multiple aspects but the Galaxy S8 vs LG G6 comparison will highlight where they are similar as well.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs LG G6: Design

Design-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S8 looks like the winner. The LG G6 and the Galaxy S8 have very similar basic design and it’s clear that both the companies are trying to limit the front bezels as much as possible. But the S8 comes with dual curved display, which limits its bezels as well as makes the phone look better than the G6.

Coming to the back, the Galaxy S8 comes with a glass body, much like the LG G6. So, both should attract a bit of fingerprint. But in my personal opinion, the back of the Galaxy S8 looks a bit messy, especially because of its weird fingerprint placement. The LG G6 looks much better in this regard with a bit of symmetry thanks to the dual cameras at the back.

In case you noticed, both phones have onscreen buttons to minimize the bezels on board.

The dimensions are almost the same, including the thickness. However, the S8 is lighter in terms of weight.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs LG G6: Display

The display is one of the highlights of both the models. The bezels are limited, which means you get more real estate in a relatively small body.

The screen on the S8 is an inch larger, featuring a 5.8-inch display (2960 x 1440p) as opposed to the 5.7-inch one on the LG G6 (2880 x 1440p). Both have slightly different screen resolutions and their aspect ratios are also different. The aspect ratio on the S8 is a bit weird:- 18.5:9. The LG G6 has an 18:9 screen.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs LG G6: Specs

This is really where the S8 blows LG G6 away. First of all, the phone boasts of the brand new 10nm Snapdragon 835 @ 2.3GHz / Exynos 9 @ 2.3GHz CPU options, both of which are the two best Android processors in the market right now. On the other hand, the LG G6 features the capable yet old Snapdragon 821.

Both phones have 4GB + 64GB memory options with MicroSD expansion. However, it’s very likely that the S8 comes with a 6GB RAM version in China, which is still unannounced officially.

The battery on board the Galaxy S8 is smaller at 3000mAh. It’s one of the areas where the S8 lacks the punch on paper. To compensate, there’s fast charging as well as wireless charging. The LG G6 has a slightly larger 3300mAh battery with fast charging. Only after a real world test can we decide which one has the better battery life.

Other features on the S8 include IP68 certification, the brand new Bixby assistant, face recognition and Cat. 16 Gigabit LTE support (only in certain models). On the other hand, the LG G6 has IP68 certification as well as Google Assistant.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs LG G6: Camera

For some reason, the Galaxy S8 retains the same capable camera as in the S7 Edge. Now, the S7 Edge had one of the best cameras of its time — a 12MP f/1.7 OIS setup. But the Google Pixel managed to top that after its launch. Samsung has promised faster and better performance with the same setup through software optimizations, but we can’t say how much better it is, as compared to the already powerful S7 Edge’s camera setup. In comparison, the LG G6 takes a leap in the camera department as compared to G5, its predecessor, with a dual 13MP f/1.8 setup. The photos from the setup come out pretty good. But only a real life camera comparison would give us better insight on who’s better.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs LG G6: Price

Galaxy S series has always been one of the priciest of Galaxy models in the market. The same continues with the S8, as the expected starting price is around $750. If this is the case, the LG G6 should be a bit cheaper, coming at around $720.

LG’s new flagship, the LG G6 is a fantastic device. Reviews so far have been positive and launch dates have also been announced for various countries. For those living in China, nothing has been heard about the LG G6 and it seems things will remain that way.

According to Daum News, a publication based in Korea, LG will not be bringing the G6 to China. The reason is because the electronics giant mobile division has been recording low sales in the country. A report from Strategy Analytics shows that LG is struggling in China as its market share currently stands at less than 0.1%. LG wants to prevents further losses, hence the reason for not releasing the LG G6 in China.

China might be a very big market but its a different turf on its own. What naturally applies in regions like North America and Europe don’t apply there. There is also stiff competition from brands like OPPO, Vivo, Huawei and Xiaomi. These brands offer fantastic devices that sell less for what LG offers, so it is going to be pretty difficult winning there. Some people also say part of LG’s failure can also be attributed to the fact that their devices do not share any resemblance to the iPhone, a smartphone that is much loved in China and which quite a number of Chinese manufacturers tend to mimic its design.

There is no official confirmation from LG itself but the manufacturer’s local website has no info about the LG G6 and if it plans to arrive at all. LG might also not completely pull out as reports say its home appliances division fares better.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the first commercial smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon 835. It was introduced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. It is now available on pre-orders in the U.K and its shipments will begin in June.

During the launch of Sony Xperia XZ Premium in February end, the company did not reveal any information on its exact pricing and availability. It was announced that the flagship would be available for buying by late spring in the U.S. However, the powerful flagship is already up for pre-orders in the U.K.

Several online retailers have started the pre-orders of Sony Xperia XZ Premium. On Amazon UK. it is listed with a pricing of £649 ($790) and it states that it will be released on June 1.  On Clove UK, the flagship phone is listed for £640 ($779). Both the retailers are selling the smartphone in Black color, although Clove mentions its variant as “Deepsea Black.”  Clove has also stated that the customers can expect to get their pre-ordered units by the first week of June.

Unlocked Mobiles has also started the pre-orders of Xperia XZ Premium with a pricing of £639 ($778). It has two color variants of the phone, Deepsea Black, and Luminous Chrome. As of this writing, the retailer has not mentioned any details on shipping date of the phone.

Even though it is the first Snapdragon 835 powered smartphone to get announced, reports have revealed that apart from Samsung, all the other manufacturers are expected to get the stock of Snapdragon 835 chips in late May. In other words, the upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 are fueled by Snapdragon 835, all the other flagships featuring the SD 835 are pegged to launch after the launch Samsung’s flagship smartphone. This is the alleged reason why LG chose to launch its LG G6 smartphone early with Snapdragon 821 chipset instead of featuring it with SD 835.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the successor of Xperia Z5 Premium. It has a dust and resistant IP68 certified chassis that is flanked with a premium mirror finish. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium has won the award for the Best New Smartphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 that was held between Feb. 27 to March 2. It was awarded by the GSM Association (aka GSMA), a trade entity that represents the interests of mobile operators across the globe. It is the organization that hosts the MWC 2017 annual event.

The LG G6 was officially announced on Feb. 26. It comes with an impressive design and specs. Since the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 met with premature death because of its faulty batteries, its rivals have been putting full efforts to reveal how safe their devices are. During a recent press meet, an LG executive had dismantled the LG G6 to reveal its internal components.

In the LG G6 teardown video, the executive can be seen opening the back panel of the smartphone that features Gorilla Glass 5. Removing it reveals a large-sized fingerprint sensor module. It also reveals the wireless charging coil. LG has confirmed that the wireless charging would be available only on the U.S. variant of the LG G6.

The antenna assembly along with the loudspeaker can be removed by unscrewing the screws from the rear side. Removing the top antenna detaches the wireless charging coil to reveal other components like the mainboard and the battery.

The advanced heat pipe with a copper plate can be over the Li-Po battery at the center by disconnecting a few connectors. Internal testing has revealed that the heat pipe can reduce the temperature of the Snapdragon 821 chipset by 10 percent. The heat pipe contains 0.1g of liquid cooling solution to prevent overheating.

A report from DigitalTrends that LG has performed numerous tests and analysis on the LG G6 batteries to ensure complete safety of its users. Driving a sharp nail through it, exposing it to extreme temperatures and dropping heavy objects on it to test its ability to withstand intense pressure are some of the tests carried out by LG to demonstrate the safety of the LG G6 batteries. All these tests confirm that the LG G6 batteries are safe and they do not explode on general use.

The LG G6 is expected to be available in South Korea and some regions by March 10. The LG G6 pre-orders will run through March 2 to 9 and its shipments will begin from March 10. As far as the U.S. release of the smartphone is concerned, the U.S. carriers are expected to begin its sales by spring.

The LG G6 has been officially announced to replace the lackluster LG G5 from 2016. One of its major attractive features is its large-sized display that is different from the screens available on conventional smartphones. Here is a comparison between the LG G6 and the Xiaomi Mi Mix that is praised for its high screen-to-body ratio.

LG G6 vs. Xiaomi Mi Mix: Design and Display

The LG G6 has an appealing glass body flanked with a metallic frame. The front side features Gorilla Glass 3 on top of the display whereas its rear has a Gorilla Glass 5. It measures 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9 mm and its weight is 163 grams. It is the first LG G series smartphone to come with an IP68 certified water and dust resistant chassis. It comes in color options like Mystic White, Astro Black, and Ice Platinum.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix is a concept phone with a premium appeal as its rear panel is made up of ceramic. Also, other parts of the body chassis such as the frame and buttons for volume controllers and power are made of ceramic. It is taller and wider than the LG G6 as it measures 158 x 81.9 mm. However, its thickness is same as that to LG G6. It is heavier as its weight is 209 grams. Mi Mix comes in colors like black and white.

The LG G6 has a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen that is officially known as FullVision. It produces a resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 pixels along with a pixel density of 565 ppi. It produces an aspect ratio 18:9 which means LG G6’s display is taller as well as narrower than conventional 16:9 screens. The super-slim bezels on the LG G6 makes it possible to produce a screen-to-body ratio of 78.37 percent.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix is an unconventional smartphone with a huge IPS LCD display of 6.4 inches that supports a resolution of 1,080 x 2,040 pixels and a pixel count of 362 ppi. It offers an uncommon aspect ratio of 17:9. Xiaomi has not confirmed on the glass protection that it has used for the display of Mi Mix. Even though Xiaomi has been advertising that the Mi Mix is a bezel-less smartphone with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.3 percent, GSM Arena’s review has stated its actual screen-to-body ratio is 84.72 percent which is still higher than that of LG G6.

LG G6 vs. Xiaomi Mi Mix: Hardware, Camera and Battery

Both smartphones are fueled by Snapdragon 821 chipset. The 32 GB and 64 GB native storage options of LG G6 feature 4 GB of RAM. Its single model has a dedicated microSD card slot. On its dual-SIM version, users can add a microSD card on its second SIM slot. On the other side, the Mi Mix with 128 GB native storage has 4 GB of RAM. Its 256 GB storage model has 6 GB of RAM. It does not feature a microSD card slot.

The LG G6 has a dual camera setup on its rear panel that comprises of a pair of 13-megapixel snapper. One of them is a wide-angel shooter whereas the other one comes with features like OIS and autofocus. It is coupled with a dual LED flash. Its selfie shooter is of 5-megapixel.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix has a dual-LED enabled 16-megapixel rear camera that comes with features like EIS and phase detection autofocus. It also features a 5-megapixel selfie snapper.

Both smartphones feature fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port. The LG G6 lacks NFC, but the Xiaomi Mi Mix features it. For crisper audio, the LG G6 features Quad DAC, a feature that is unavailable on Mi Mix.

The LG phone has a 3,300 mAh battery and the Mi Mix is packed with 4,400 mAh battery. Both devices support Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

LG G6 vs. Xiaomi Mi Mix: Software and Price

The LG G6 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS customized with LG UX 6.0 UI. The Mi Mix comes loaded with MIUI 8 flavored Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

The South Korean company did not announce LG G6 pricing at its launch event. However, it is expected to cost around $649-$699. The 4 GB RAM model of Mi Mix is priced at 3,499 Yuan ($509) and its 6 GB RAM variant costs 3,999 Yuan ($581).

One of the biggest tech events of the year, the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017) will kick off in the next few days. The event starts on February 27 and goes on till 2nd March in Barcelona, Spain. Most of the top smartphone manufacturers will be present at the event, and we expect a lot of new products to be announced especially flagship smartphones. LG and Huawei have already confirmed that their flagship smartphones for 2017, the LG G6 and the Huawei P10 / P10 Plus respectively will be announced at the event. But we expect a lot more companies to participate in the release of new smartphones and down below, we take a look at what to expect from the top tech companies at the event.

Xiaomi:

For the first time, Xiaomi was present at MWC in 2016. We expected the company to do the same this year, but recently, Xiaomi revealed that they won’t be attending the event. Quite disappointing, as we would have loved to see the new Xiaomi Mi 6 being announced at the big event.

But there’s some consolation. Although the company is not attending the big event, it will release its first ever processor, code named Pinecone, on February 27 in China. That’s the same time as other companies are planning to announce their big products at MWC. Further, we would most likely see the first Pinecone processor powered smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 5C on the same day.

LeEco:

For the past few months, LeEco has been particularly quiet about its new releases. The company hasn’t officially confirmed that they will be participating at MWC 2017 but there were rumors that LeEco X10 smartphone could be announced at the big event. Now, it seems unlikely because we haven’t heard anything from the company yet.

Lenovo Motorola:

By now, it’s clear that Motorola will announce at least two new smartphones at the event, the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus. Huawei:

Huawei has confirmed that it will take the wraps off two new flagship smartphones, the Huawei P10 and the Huawei P10 Plus. The new series will succeed the company’s first Lecia certified Huawei P9 models that were released with much fanfare last year. So, expect some powerful specs, especially in the camera department on the new Huawei P10 models.

Along with the new smartphones, the Huawei Watch 2 will also be unveiled at MWC 2017. The first gen. Huawei Watch is often considered one of the best looking Android smartwatches in the market and the new generation model will have to make sure that it takes things to a level higher.

Asus:

Asus isn’t expected to release a new smartphone at MWC 2017, at least not a flagship one. But we are most likely going to see the recently leaked Zenfone 3 Go entry level handset at the event. The specs aren’t exciting, and if you are an Asus fan waiting for the next generation Zenfone 4, you’ll most likely have to wait a couple of months more, until May.

Nokia:

Nokia is back, and we already saw its first smartphone, the Nokia 6, which has received a pretty good response in China so far. But the fact that the phone is limited to China doesn’t seem fair for Nokia fans all around the world, and for them, we will most likely see at least two new smartphones from the company at MWC 2017, the Nokia 3 and the Nokia 5. Note that the model names are lower than that of Nokia 6, which likely suggests that the two models are going to be entry level devices, so nothing too exciting. Also, according to Evan Blass, Nokia could also revive the legendary Nokia 3310 feature phone at the event.

So, MWC this year is definitely something to watch out for Nokia fans.

Oppo:

Initially, we thought Oppo was going to let MWC pass this year without any significant announcements. But the company recently revealed that it did have something in store for smartphone enthusiasts, a 5X zoom smartphone. Now, before you get too excited, it’s probably going to be a prototype model showcasing the company’s new zoom technology. We are not sure whether we’ll meet a new smartphone featuring this tech as early as MWC. Let’s wait and watch.

ZTE:

ZTE rose to fame with its Axon series smartphones in the past few years, but at MWC 2017, we won’t be seeing any new Axon models. It will apparently make things like 360 VR, 4K videos and instant cloud storage on the go possible. Another interesting product that we may find at the event could be the ZTE Quartz watch,. It has already passed Bluetooth SIG certification and will run Android Wear 2.0 platform that was just recently announced.

Nubia:

Nubia also seems to be eager to showcase its new smartphone at MWC 2017. The company has confirmed that it will announce a new device, but we are not sure, which model it will be or what features can we expect. The teaser just says, “To Meet New Possibilities”, which could be hinting at improvements in the camera department. Nubia phones are popular for its design and camera tech, so something new in these departments can be expected at the event. Note that the phone will be announced on February 26, a day before the MWC officially starts, but the company will most likely showcase its new device at its booth during the event.

Gionee:

Gionee seems to be readying two devices for showcasing at MWC 2017, namely the Gionee A1 and A1 Plus. Recently, we came across more details about the Gionee A1, and the leak reveals that it will be a mid-range device. The specs are decent and the highlight will be the 16MP selfie snapper up front.

LG is not keeping any secrets as regards the LG G6. The Korean giant has been giving us steady bits of info for weeks now. The latest is a blog post that talks about the cameras on the device.

In the post, it is mentioned that the LG G6 will feature a front camera with a 100º field of view. The dual 13MP rear cameras will however take it further by having a 125° viewing angle. LG explains that one of the cameras does the job of providing that extra view. The wide angle lens will allow you fit more objects into your viewfinder especially when taking landscape photos.

In addition to that, the LG G6 will come with 360° panorama mode; a food mode that amps color saturation; and what is called a square camera feature that splits the screen in half, with one half showing what you just shot. The latter is actually a way to make use of the 18:9 aspect ratio of the display.

Just a week before the LG G6 launches, real images of the device have surfaced online. These are not the first set of images showing the LG G6 but these are the first that shows the Always-on display.

This is a silver variant of the LG G6. Starting from the rear, we can see the dual cameras and the fingerprint scanner now have a new design. They flush with the rest of the body and are not raised like in the G5. The back plate is also reflective as the fluorescent tubes in the room are visible on it.

Up front is where the action is. LG is not aiming for symmetry with the G6 and its evident in how the top and bottom bezels are of varying sizes. The side bezels are pretty thin though and the way the screen curves at the corners look nice. The top bezel houses the front camera, sensors and earpiece while the lower bezel is were LG’s branding sits. The Always-on display shows the time, date, and battery level, so by simply whipping out your phone from your pocket you should know how much battery you have left.

The specs provided by the source says the LG G6 has a 4GB RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 3200mAh battery. We are a bit surprised about the battery as a Korean media had reported earlier this week of it being larger than 3200mAh. LG’s new flagship is set to launch exactly eleven days from now. Not very far off but that is not stopping more details from coming out. New details have emerged about the battery capacity of the LG G6.

A Korean Media announced yesterday that the LG G6 will ship with a battery larger than 3200mAh, citing an unnamed senior official as their source. The battery is expected to last about 12 hours on a single charge if all you do is web browsing. However, a real life test will be needed to confirm this claim.

The image above is a comparison of the battery capacities of LG’s G Series since inception. Last year’s LG G5 shipped with a 2800mAh battery but it also had a smaller 5.3-inch QHD display. Considering the fact that the LG G6 will have a 5.7-inch display with a 2880 x 1440 resolution, a battery larger than 3000mAh sounds alright.

The exact capacity of the battery is assumed to be between 3200mAh and 3300mAh. If it were higher than 3300mAh, the official could have simply said so. Like previously reported, the LG G6′ battery will not be user-removable but the phone will have water and dust resistance.

The LG G6 is launching later this month, February 26 to be precise according to latest rumors. That’s still two weeks from now. However we have images of the device rocking some pretty nice cases. The pictures don’t reveal much but at least we are sure of the dual-rear cameras and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

LG’s new flagship is taking things differently this year. Following the failure of the LG G5 and its modularity design. LG has gone back to the drawing board for the G6. The new flagship will no longer use modules and will no longer have a removable battery. The latter feature will allow LG slap in dust and water resistance, a feature likely to be present in virtually all flagships for 2017.

LG has also redesigned the body of the LG G6. A promotional image released weeks ago hints at the device having a larger screen but a smaller body. The new screen is said to be a 5.7-inch display with a unique 2880 x 1440 resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio.

One thing the LG G6 is sadly not getting is the Snapdragon 835 processor. The reason for that is because available stock of the new chip which is manufactured by Samsung is going to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Other manufacturers will have to wait till they get stock before they release their device. LG will rather not wait, so its settling for the Snapdragon 821 instead. That way it can release the LG G6 weeks ahead of Samsung and get enough sales in.

The Snapdragon 821 processor is the most powerful chip you will find in a phone at the moment. Combine it with the new features in the LG G6 such as Quad DAC for better audio quality, dual rear cameras, a larger display and waterproofing and the LG G6 still looks like a winner.

LG will probably release a phone with the Snapdragon 835 processor later this year, probably the ‘LG V30’ or might decide to follow what OnePlus did with the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The LG G6 is expected to be launched on the 26th of February and should go on sale in the following weeks.

LG G6 is all set to get unveiled on Feb. 26. A confidential snapshot of a LG presentation slide taken at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 from January has revealed that the LG G6 will be fueled by Snapdragon 821 chipset. The LG G6 rumors that had been doing rounds since last year had claimed that it would be featuring Snapdragon 835 chipset.

Qualcomm has collaborated with Samsung for the mass production of Snapdragon 835. A report from the previous month had revealed that since Samsung has been allotted the initial stock of the Snapdragon 835 chipset by Qualcomm, none of the high-end smartphones that are aimed to release before Samsung Galaxy S8 would be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is slated to get announced at March end and it is expected to go on sale in April. This indicates that any smartphone OEM will have to wait until May or June to release Snapdragon 835 powered smartphone. If LG wanted to release LG G5 with Snapdragon 835 onboard, it would have to launch it couple of weeks after the release of Galaxy S8.

The Snapdragon 821 chipset is very potent chipset. Some of the smartphones that are running on this chipset include Google Pixel, Pixel XL, OnePlus 3T, Xiaomi Mi 5s, Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, Xiaomi Mi Note 2, LeEco Le Pro 3 and Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe. The LG G6 could be the first smartphone from the South Korean company running on Snapdragon 821 chipset.

Opting for Snapdragon 821 for LG G6, the company can aim at releasing the smartphone in March after announcing it on Feb. 26. This could possibly help the LG G6 to arrive several weeks ahead of the release of Galaxy S8 in April. By releasing the LG G6 earlier, it would be able to achieve higher sales than the Galaxy S8.

LG has confirmed that it will not be using the modular design on LG G6 that it introduced on its predecessor phone. Even though LG G6 is coming with a less potent than the one that powers the Galaxy S8, the company is expected to bring some impressive improvements such as a 5.7-inch ‘Full Vision’ display that would be supporting a display resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 along with an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The smartphone is pegged to come with a water and dust resistant chassis and a dual camera sensor on its rear panel. In certain markets, it is expected to feature quad DAC and it is speculated to house a non-removable battery.

In the previous month, LG has already teased the arrival of LG G6 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 event. Now, it has sent an official invitation of the LG G6’s Feb. 26 launch event. Popular leakster, Evan Blass has revealed the LG G6 release date for South Korea and the U.S.

The South Korean company will be unwrapping the LG G6 on Feb .26 at Sant Jordi Club, Barcelona, Spain. The event will begin at 12 PM. The official invitation shows that the LG G6 would be arriving with a larger screen. And it also suggests that even though the phablet is arriving with a larger display, users will be able to hold it comfortably.

Previous reports have revealed that the LG G6 would be coming with a 5.7-inch display that will deliver an aspect ratio of 9:18 and it will carry support for a display quad HD+ resolution of 1,440 x 2,880 pixels. Several smartphones that support quad HD resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels have 9:16 aspect ratio.

Hence, the LG G6 is expected to come with an elongated display and it will be sporting super-slim bezels. The company has confirmed that the quad HD+ display of LG G6 will be called “Full Vision” on release. The display for the LG G6 are supplied by LG Display. Several leaked photos of the LG G6 have surfaced in the recent past.

According to Blass, the LG G6 is slated to sell in South Korea on March 9. However, it will be releasing a month later in the U.S. as it is expected to launch on April 7.  It is expected to be cost more than the LG G5 and is rumored to be priced around $700 for the unlocked model. The smartphone is speculated to be priced aggressively to rival the Galaxy S8 that will be releasing by mid-April in the U.S.

The LG G5 modular phone met with poor reception mainly because of its add-on accessories. Hence, LG G6 will be arriving without any modular accessories. It is expected to support IP68 certified metal unibody chassis and it will be fueled by Snapdragon 821 chipset and not by Snapdragon 835 that will power compatriot Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones.

As the February 26 launch event of the LG G6 flagship draws nearer, we continually get inundated with multiple leaks about the device. The latest we are getting about the LG flagship are a set of images of the device thanks to case maker Ringke cases. The images give us ample view of the G6 captured from all direction.

The images are, no doubt, meant to promote the protective cases which Ringke will be supplying for the sleek device but they did tell a few stories about the G6. First, the renders look very much like those of the flagship earlier leaked, with the dual-lens rear camera and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor standing out. As earlier revealed, the LG G6 will have a clean front without any physical button to distort the smooth feel.

The LG G6 will likely have a clean front with no physical buttons and a large, 5.7-inch display with extra slim bezels. Another feature which is on display is the USB Type-C port at the bottom and then instead of yanking off the 3.5mm jack, LG retained it at the top edge of the smartphone. The volume rockers and power button are also visible on the left side of the phone.

In a related development, an LG smartphone recently popped up on benchmarking website Geekbench, only identified by the model number  LGE LG-H871. The device is thought in some quarters to be the LG G6 but curiously, it packs a Snapdragon 820 chip listed as MSM 8996, along with 4GB of RAM.

Although we can’t be certain this is the G6, there had been rumors in the past that the LG flagship uses a Snapdragon 820. Perhaps, it could be for one of its variants which recently appeared in an LG trademark filing as G6 Lite, G6 Compact et al. The G6 itself is also touted to feature a Snapdragon 821 chip and to have two versions with 4GB and 6GB RAM respectively. We can say for sure, tough, if the device is the G6 but all will unravel at MWC 2017 in Barcelone. Once again, February 26 is the date.

While the Chinese smartphone market is on holidays, LG is obviously one of the beneficiaries of the huge media attention that has been diverted from China this week. The upcoming LG G6 flagship has courted lots of media attention and that seems not to be on the verge of abating. We keep getting more leaks and the latest happens to be the real live photo of the G6. Yeah, finally we get to see what the flagship phone looks like in real life.

The leaked live shot of the flagship shows only the rear view of the flagship but it looks stunning all the same. The render shows that the G6 will indeed sport a horizontally aligned dual-lens rear camera setup with the dual-tone LED flash sitting in between both lenses.  There is also a fingerprint sensor located at the rear, just under the rear camera. Another prominent feature on display is the glossy looking body the device packs. The metal body frame is said to be covered with glass and it indeed looks premium. Finally, just at the bottom part of the rear, the model name G6 is engraved on the all-black body.
